Experience

Third Engineer

Nov 2025 - Jan 2026
MY KenshoMOTOR • 75m

In my role as 3rd Engineer on this modern diesel-electric motor yacht, I have been fully integrated into the technical operations of the engineering department. Joining the vessel during the final week of an intensive shipyard/refit period, I immediately supported the completion of major outstanding engineering tasks, system testing, and ensured the yacht returned to full operating condition. My responsibilities included planned maintenance on IDEA, routine machinery and system inspections. I stood engineering watches during the vessels Atlantic crossing from Italy to Antigua and all other overnight sea-going passages, whilst occasionally putting the machinery space into UMS conditions and responding to alarms promptly from my cabin. I was also active within the vessel’s emergency response, including regular fire drills where I was a member of the BA team, and MOB drills, where I was a member of the rescue boat crew. Assisted with guest and interior issues during charter.

Third Engineer

Aug 2025 - Sep 2025
MY SakuraMOTOR • 82m

In a temporary role as 3rd Engineer on a recently commissioned, large diesel-electric motor yacht equipped with two azimuth thrusters and a full engineering department including an ETO, I operated exclusively in a technical engineering role. Responsibilities included executing planned maintenance on IDEA, performing machinery and system inspections, watchkeeping, log keeping, and continuous monitoring and operation of onboard systems. I was also responsible for performing checks on Compass tenders to ensure their reliability and safe operation. Participated in emergency response drills as part of the BA fire team, including during an internal audit. The vessel operated on 24-hour watches under UMS conditions, ensuring continuous monitoring and rapid response to any technical issues. Gained experience with diesel-electric propulsion, complex engineering systems, and UMS operations.

Temporary 2nd Engineer

Jul 2025 - Aug 2025
MY DenikiMOTOR • 50m

As the sole assistant to the Chief Engineer in a two-person engineering department, I was actively involved in all aspects of engine room operations and vessel maintenance. Duties included routine and corrective tasks within the planned maintenance system on IDEA, assisting in engine room checks and monitoring, servicing machinery and systems, log keeping, and ensuring operational readiness of onboard systems. I contributed to general upkeep of the vessel, performing handyman repairs and troubleshooting issues across all departments. During guest trips, I assisted the deck crew with lines, fenders, tender operations, and provided guest and interior support when required, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork across departments. Gained valuable experience in the technical and operational demands of a busy private yacht.
