Here my brief background; By the age of 17, I became a deckhand and kamikaze diver on fishing boats along Turkish coast, selling fresh fish to luxury yachts. One of those captains, an Australian, appreciated with my attitude and offered me the opportunity to work for him, which marked the beginning of my career in yachting. By the age of 24, I had completed my compulsory Navy service, graduated from Istanbul University with an Associate’s Degree in Underwater Technology, and became a commercial diver/underwater technologist. By age 30, I had become a New Zealand citizen and earned my Inshore Launch Master license. Since then, I’ve worked on yachts in the Mediterranean during the European summer and taken up seasonal roles Pasific Australasia during the winters. In 2018, I transitioned to working full-time captain on a luxury motor yacht in Europe, a 92’ Mangusta with twin 2000hp MTU engines and twin 33kW Kohler generators. I wasn’t just responsible for navigation and management, I also took care of maintenance and engineering tasks, ensuring the yacht was always in top condition. I have extensive experience in dry dock operations, including task creation, managing and supervising maintenance projects, and ensuring timely completion of work. My responsibilities have included but not limited to auditing vessels and crews for readiness before charters, overseeing contractors to maintain vessels to the highest standards, and ensuring compliance with state flag and class society regulations. Additionally, I have strong skills in time management, reporting, log keeping, and maintaining operational efficiency across all aspects of vessel management. In 2024, I decided to study upgrade my licences in Australia and further my skills with a year-long Maritime Operations program in Perth, which I recently completed. Now, I’m looking for my next full-time position and ready to grow my career in next yacht and next company. As a professional captain/engineer/diver, I am confident my skills and experience will meet and exceed your expectations.
