Responsible of the main power plant of the ship, planning and performing the maintenance of the auxiliary engines and the propulsion system.

Responsible of the engine control room equipment and monitoring the engine room during watch. Coordinating with the engine watch team and informing them of any alarms and malfunctions arising during watch. Coordinating closely with the Bridge Officers during watch. Working closely with the Chief Engineer in case any alarm arises and assigning the engineers to do the necessary check ups and maintenance.

Responsible of the engine room during watch. Coordinating with the engine team during maintenance being done in the engine room. Working closely with the 2nd engineer in solving all alarms and other related matters during watch. Completing the tasks assigned by the Chief Engineer and reporting on the status of all work completed at the end of the watch.
