Have been Chief Pilot in Fredrikstad / Oslofjorden for more then 25 years. This are very demanding waters with narrow waters, a lot of wind and current.  Norway's largest river, the Glomma, flows past Fredrikstad and is also very demanding to maneuver.  As Chief Pilot, you are responsible for maneuvering the boats to and from the quay. I have broad experience from most types of ships, ranging from about 50 meters to 250 meters.  Also most types of engines and rudders in all kinds of weather and both night and day. Had professional responsibility for the area towards agents and port management and overall responsibility for 14 pilots.  Was responsible for the Tall Ship Race the 3 times it has been in Fredrikstad.  Therefore also has a lot of administrative experience. I was I retired in July 2021 from the Norwegian Coastal Administration but have worked a little after this for private companies. The summer 2022 for the sake of change, I worked as a guide on MC tours in the US and Canada. The summer 2024 I was a captain on ferries in Northern Norway for Torghatten A/S. In the fall of 2024 I took a job as captain on a transit voyage from Norway to Tasmania via the Panama Canal for Sølvtrans A/S which operates in the aquaculture industry.   Over the years I have worked, I have taken many courses in manoeuvring, ECDIS, AIS, bridge management, etc.   Before the Norwegian Coastal Administration I was more then 20 years at sea, and in the end i was a Captain in the merchant marine. When I sailed in the merchant marine as Captain and Chief Officer I was responsible for maintenance, budget and crew.  Was as 1 officer on the cruise ship "Wind Star" and “Sea Goddess”   During the time on Maritime high school I worked as a crane operator and from that also have a tower, quay and traverse crane certificate.  I also see a service attitude, respect and a good mood as one of the most important things in a job as a captain, no matter what kind of ship. But with the background and experience I have, safety is always in focus.
