As First Engineer I was the responsible work leader for all work that has to be carried out in the engine room , in close cooperation with the other engineers. Additional to that I was in charge of Diesel and Gas turbine engines with related systems and equipment , fire fighting systems with related equipment ( Hi-fog , CO2 , Foam system ) , workshops including tools , chain blocks , cranes and elevator platforms . I was responsible for the bunkering of fuel and lubricating oil plus many other additional routines and work assigned by Staff Chief Engineer or Chief Engineer. I was working in full cooperation with my superiors and subordinates to ensure compliance with policies and directives to safeguard the environment.

As a marine engineer, I was tasked with watchkeeping duties, ensuring the operational integrity and maintenance of various shipboard systems. This included auxiliary diesel engines (Wartsila 16V46F, 12V46F), boiler plants, waste heat recovery systems, evaporators, reverse osmosis plants, and chemical dosage units. I managed fuel, oil, and lubrication systems, oversaw bilge, ballast, and heeling systems, and maintained emergency diesel generators (MTU 16V4000 P81). Additionally, I was responsible for the upkeep of stabilizers, air compressors, pneumatic valves, and hydraulic systems. My role extended to the monitoring and maintenance of ABB azipods and Wartsila scrubber systems. I ensured the proper functioning of bilge water separators, sewage treatment, and waste management systems, and maintained environmental logbooks. My dry dock experience includes overseeing major overhauls of azipods and bow thrusters, collaborating with ABB and Wartsila technicians.
