Oct 2024 - Mar 2025
M/Y Quantum Of Solace

A Busy Charter Vessel which was in for maintenance, I was able to spend time getting an in depth knowledge of the vessels systems, procedures and LSA/FFE equipment and standards. I was also involved in various maintenance operations on all aspects of the vessel. I also had the opportunity to assist the engineers in a lesser capacity with some deck maintenance jobs such as tender maintenance and minor electrical work.

During the time since completing my boatmasters I have undertaken duties as a cover skipper on a 50ft, 100 person passenger ferry and a 63ft, 100 person ferry. From this I have got to gain experience being in charge of a vessel, the overseeing of health and safety procedures, maintaining a watch and security procedures. It also gave me good experience in managing people whom have had both more and less time at sea than myself, allowing me to take from their experiences and learn.

Operated and maintained deck equipment, ensuring smooth and efficient operation of vessel activities. Assisted in loading and unloading cargo, ensuring safe and secure stowage and proper handling of hazardous materials. Participated in daily safety drills and implemented emergency procedures to ensure the safety of crew members and passengers. Collaborated with team members to execute navigation tasks, including chart plotting, buoy identification, and anchoring operations. Experienced more than 100 separate cruise ship tenders transporting passengers to the Islands, meeting a broad range of clienteles, many of whom speak little English, so it has increased my communication tenfold. Furthermore, many of these trips have been in inclement weather, giving me real world experiences in tendering a larger vessel in less than ideal situations. Over recent winters I have been heavily involved in the maintenance of the vessel under all aspects from antifouling to engine maintenance, varnishing seats and polishing fibreglass. I have also been involved of the complete overhaul of an Aquastar 38 into a high-end pleasure vessel, starting from initial strip down to final trimming.
