Responsibilities included full passage planning, chart and publication corrections, GMDSS duties, bridge record keeping, ISM/ISPS compliance. I overhauled the SOLAS Training Manual and worked closely with Lürssen to revise onboard Safety Plans. Leading a deck team of 5, I assisted in major yard periods including a 10-Year Survey, flag and class inspections, while managing daily maintenance, PTWs and onboard security. Guest ops included running the 38ft Wajer, crane ops, and a full range of water sports equipment.

Stepping into the First Mate role for six months during a transitional period allowed me to gain hands-on experience in leadership, guest service, and bridge operations while leading a deck team of 2 and managing daily deck tasks, maintenance schedules, and inventories. Oversaw all deck administration, ordering, and operations, and supported the bridge with navigation, paperwork, and watchkeeping duties. Acted as sole operator of a 35ft Scout tender (3x 350hp), handling guest transfers, water sports including wakeboarding, wake surfing, and tubing with children as well as beach setups and sunset cruises. Executed all anchoring, mooring, and towing operations.

Maintained capping rails, completed teak repairs, caulking, and paintwork using Awlgrip and Alexseal (roll, tip, and spray). Assisted with mooring, anchoring, and crane operations for launching/recovering tenders. Facilitated guest activities including kayaking, snorkeling, and children’s swimming lessons. Led beach setups and assisted with lunch service on remote islands. Organized and led interactive guest events such as treasure hunts, obstacle courses, and fishing lessons. Built strong rapport with the principal and family.
