Aboard this fast-paced private yacht, I served as Bosun under a highly particular and detail-oriented owner. Leading a deck team of two (a lead deckhand and one deckhand), I was responsible for maintaining the vessel to the highest standards set by both the owner and First Mate. During my time onboard, I developed a strong understanding of deck products and their chemical compositions. Given the vessel's aging paintwork, I had to strike a careful balance--maintaining a pristine exterior while avoiding products that could compromise the integrity of the paint. This approach ensured both a high-quality finish and the long-term preservation of the owner's asset.

I initially joined Mamma Mia as Chase Boat Captain, responsible for the operation, maintenance, and readiness of the 32-foot Blackfin tender. After a period away, I was rehired by the previous captain who also rejoined the vessel, reflecting the strong working relationship and trust we developed. I ensured the tender was maintained to the highest standards, managing all pre- and post-departure checks and supporting the deck team during operations. My role required vigilance, attention to detail, and adherence to safety protocols to guarantee seamless guest transfers and support.

Serving as Bosun aboard this busy private sailing yacht was both a dynamic and rewarding experience. The program was highly guest-focused and fast-paced, requiring precise coordination and execution on deck. I led a team of two deckhands and reported directly to the First and Second Officers. As the primary tender operator, I was responsible for all guest transfers and support operations, ensuring every procedure was executed safely and efficiently. I led the deck team during daily activities, strictly following standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain consistency and safety across all tasks. With many moving parts involved in the program--including AquaBanas setup, heavy crane operations on both the bow and stern, and regular sailing maneuvers--adherence to SOPs was essential to the efficiency and professionalism of the deck team.
