About
I joined the yachting industry in 2015 as a junior deckhand and spent the next 3 years working on yachts gaining experience as a part of a deck team. I decided to enroll myself for the OOW Unlimited cadetship in 2018 for which I completed my studies at the end of 2021 having worked on both RO-RO & RO-Pax ships. I found my first opportunity to work as an officer in early 2022 onboard a RO-Pax vessel operating between Malta and Sicily, after completing my 4 month contract I was offered my next position onboard a charter yacht operating in the Mediterranean and Caribbean. After a year and a half onboard the charter yacht I decided it was time to go back to school to sit for the Chief Mate Unlimited which began in January 2024. I have now finished the course and graduated. I hope to find a well run vessel with a great team and continue to further my knowledge and experience.

Experience
Chief Officer
Ab Initio is a 48m single season private vessel which operates in the Mediterranean. I have been employed on a 1 month contract to cover a boss trip whilst the permanent chief officer takes his leave. Ab Initio runs with a deck team that consists of the captain, chief officer and a sole deckhand, this requires the position to be very flexible as time management is key to be able to carry out bridge duties along with assisting on deck as much as possible.
Navigational Officer
I was employed on a 2 month contract starting onboard a Ro-Pax vessel operating between Spain and Morocco. The vessel runs a busy schedule, transiting the Gibraltar strait on 2-3 trips per day. The Chief Officer and 2nd Officer are dedicated solely to cargo operations, the 3rd Officer position is the Navigational and Safety Officer Role. My duties consisted of holding a lone watch from breakwater to pilot boarding station, updating and maintenance of all bridge equipment, maintaining all logbooks (excluding garbage and ballast water), carrying out drills as per onboard matrix, maintenance of LSA, FFE, medical chest & GMDSS, organizing transfers of new and old crew members, along with preparation for and carrying out of surveys.
2nd Officer
Duties included -organizing the deck during loading and discharging -preparing pre-arrival papers -updating charts & publications -carrying out various maintenance as per the PMS -organising and carrying out drills for crew.
