About
My name is Martin. I was born in 1999 in Santurce, a small city on the north coast of Spain. When I was 17 years old, I started my maritime studies in Bilbao, Spain. Just four years later, I joined my first vessel, which belonged to the Spanish ERV fleet. After that first contract, I switched to the gas carrier fleet, where I am currently working on my 8th vessel. Since the beginning of my career, I have been promoted from deck cadet to second officer, working as third officer in between. Excluding my very first contract, I have always been the only Spanish crew member on board. That forced me to depend completely on my English language skills to communicate with my crewmates. This has never been a problem, as I obtained my Cambridge English Advanced C1 certificate when I was 17 years old. Currently, with an accumulated sea service of more than 30 months, I truly believe I have a decent set of skills that could be transferred to the yacht industry. Nonetheless, I am aware that there are some yacht-specific competences I need to acquire before becoming a good deck officer. I feel satisfied when I see myself gaining new competences and sharing them with others. I can proudly say that 2 out of the 3 deck cadets who worked under my supervision have already been promoted to the rank of third officer. Willing to provide more information if requested.

Career Objective
As a Second Officer, my goal is to continue developing my professional skills in navigation, safety management, and bridge operations while working towards promotion to Chief Officer in the future. I am also interested in obtaining the additional competencies required for a Second Officer position in the yachting sector, including tender driving and the maintenance of high-standard yacht finishes. I am committed to maintaining the highest levels of safety, efficiency, and professionalism while contributing positively to the vessel’s operations and crew performance. I am seeking a Second Officer position offering a fixed rotation schedule, ideally two months on board and two months off. Such a rotation would provide a sustainable work–life balance, allowing me to perform at my best and continue my professional development over the long term.
