Deckhand
I’ve been hands-on with all aspects of deck maintenance, working closely with the captains and crew to keep the vessel in top condition. My duties have included treating and painting bunkers (rust removal and prevention), cleaning, treating, and painting storage lockers, deep cleaning cushions, and handling regular washdowns and detailing. I also carry out routine inspections of fire hydrants, extinguishers, life jackets, and immersion suits to ensure all safety equipment is in order. While Bella Vita is in the shipyard, I am gaining valuable shipyard experience, assisting with repairs, painting in the engine room, and supporting the team with maintenance projects. I also perform firewatch duties, maintaining safety and vigilance while work is ongoing. In addition, I participate in watchkeeping duties, including lookout, assisting on the bridge, and monitoring vessel safety during operations. I take pride in maintaining high standards and supporting smooth, efficient deck operations. The boat was sold and they brought in their own crew.
