Joining a 60m during the sale process to help with a pre sale survey and allow the Full-time Chief Engineer to take accrued leave. Aided through the pre-sale survey and completing repairs and fault-finding on long standing issues to ensure the sale was completed. Sailing from drydock, bunkering fuel, sailing to home port in Imperia before sailing to Monaco to complete the sale. After the sale was completed, I stayed on-board for a further few days to bring the new Greek crew upto speed on the systems and operation ensuring a smooth handover.

Temporary 2nd Engineer

Sep 2024 - Present
M/Y H3

Joining as a temporary 2nd engineer, my job brief was to uphold the usual role beneath the Chief Engineer whilst giving guidance and advice to the Third engineer in preparation for his expected promotion onboard. I spent several weeks in the evenings giving one to one workshop classes with the third engineer prepping him until he achieved a successful pass in his 2nd engineers oral exam. The vessel was up for sale during my time onboard so day to day jobs was minor repairs and cleaning of all technical spaces and equipment prior to a Sale/buyers survey. I was onboard to assist and demonstrate the correct functioning of all equipment during the thorough survey, prepare for a brief drydock and then a successful sea trial and safe passage to a port to await final signing of the Sale contract. In my short time on-board I was able to forge a great relationship with the crew onboard, especially amongst the Engineering team.

1st Engineer

Feb 2018 - Jan 2024
Flying Fox

Joining the project for the final 15 months of the build phase prior to handover, my responsibilities included attending room and equipment inspections, vessel sea-trials and the commissioning and acceptance of system installations. Representing the best interests of the owner by ensuring works were completed thoroughly to a high standard and installations future-proofed. Responsible for signing of the technical acceptance of drawings and equipment and facilitating the commissioning of all technical equipment and systems including several sea-trials. During this period a thorough construction report was maintained weekly leading to a fully tracked report of progress throughout the project. I was additionally responsible for compiling a comprehensive list of spare parts and tools that would be required for the vessel to be ready upon completion, managing this against a given budget along with inspecting received items and ensuring accuracy of goods ordered vs goods received. Contributing as a team, we ensured the planned maintenance system was fully populated with maintenance jobs and specific equipment's information and that all onboard procedures were standardised for vessel launch. Once the vessel was completed, I sailed with the vessel for its maiden voyage and over the next several months helped to iron-out teething issues and report and track issues that could be raised during the warranty period. I have been with the vessel through its major warranty yard repairs, alterations and for the vessels first major drydock giving me a complete and thorough understanding of the vessel. I have sailed with the vessel for several crossings along with owner and charter trips providing a top-quality service throughout short and extended trips and helping contribute to the annual budgeting for maintenance, repairs and breakdowns. This job role has seen me serve as an Engine room manager, providing guidance for the daily running of the vessel looking over and training a team of junior watch-keeping engineers, motormen along with directing, assisting and guiding an Electrician and Tender Engineer as required.
