About
I transitioned to yachting after five years as a technical draughtsman in Johannesburg, where I earned a Mechanical Engineering certificate (NQF Level 6) through a private college and developed strong skills in reading technical schematics, P&IDs, and managing system documentation. This background gives me a solid foundation for understanding vessel systems and technical troubleshooting—skills I’m now applying on deck and in the engine room. Last season, I completed daywork in the Mediterranean on yachts up to 50m, including the 46m S/Y Dione Star and 50m M/Y Bon Vivant. This experience taught me the maintenance standards expected on quality yachts—from two-step teak treatments and stainless polishing to engine room degreasing. I’m comfortable with both the technical side (systems, troubleshooting, documentation) and the guest-facing side (tender operations, line handling, maintaining a professional appearance). I hold AEC 1 & 2 qualifications and I’m currently working toward my Small Vessel (SV) engineering tickets. My goal is to be a versatile crew member who can work across both deck and engineering departments, especially valuable on vessels where dual capability matters. I’m drawn to yachting because it combines technical problem-solving with hands-on work in an environment where attention to detail really counts. I take my work seriously, and I'm eager to learn from experienced crew. I understand that private yachting is about maintaining high standards and providing seamless service—both areas where my technical background and work ethic can add real value.
