- Safety officer – responsible for training and familiarization of the crew with their emergency duties and lifesaving and fire-fighting appliances onboard • Arranging of the Muster List considering crew certification • Conducting the crew and guests drills in accordance with SOLAS and SMS. Making sure that crew and guests are confident and well prepared in case of an emergency • Preparing for and issuance work permits (Hot Works, Work Aloft/Overside, Enclosed Space Entries ets.) • Preparation and review of Risk Assessments • Checks and maintenance of lifesaving and fire-fighting appliances • Record keeping of trainings, LSA and FFE checks to the log book and company Planned Maintenance System TM Master • Safety rounds and arranging HSE / safety committee meetings • Watchkeeping on the bridge, Ice navigation • Accident/Incident/Near Miss investigation and reporting in accordance with SMS • Reporting directly to Staff Captain and Captain
