About
Hi! I'm James, I've just completed my SCTW and am looking to dive straight in to the yachting world. I have 9 years of experience in various watersports; a proficient dinghy sailor, kayaker, paddleboarder and rower. I can also operate small powered craft. my experience across these disciplines has also given me a wealth of broader maritime knowledge including seamanship, navigation, and maritime legislation and operation. Off the water I have 6 years of experience in the hospitality sector working as a chef, bartender and server in a range of environments from busy nightclubs and bars to high end corporate dining. In my free time I like to spend as much time as possible bettering myself and developing my skills. I am an avid runner and gym goer, having featured on national news for my COVID scheme. I have taken several social science modules at Sunderland university and have recently began learning Spanish. I also spent 3 years doing youth work with the sea cadets.

Hobbies & Interests
During COVID I ran a fitness scheme that kept families fit while remaining socially distanced. I regularly attend the gym and I run at least 3 times a week. I also love to spend time on the water, usually taking the paddleboards or kayaks out. walking and hiking are also passions of mine. I am an avid reader and as well as being a chef for work, I enjoy cooking as a hobby at home.
Experience
Bartender/Chef
In this role I progressed my bartending skills significantly from the nightclubs I had previously worked in. Learning how to set up corporate hospitality dining arrangements and run corporate bar service. on the main bar i developed my speed, efficiency and knowledge and eventually began to take over sole responsibility of the bar during the weekday evenings, coordinating with kitchen and management to ensure guest satisfaction. As a chef I similarly learned quickly and took responsibility for the training of new hires and the sole manning of the kitchen as well as cooking food for the corporate packages on a weekly basis
