Nic Milton

I joined MY Barbara Anne while it was in the yard completing its build. I was involved in the installation and organisation of deck spaces as well as the inventory of all the deck equipment and toys. Onboard Barbara Anne I worked as part of a deck team of 3, I gained varied experience in onboard charter operations and guest entertainment. I Was also involved in docking and anchoring operations, washdowns and general deck maintenance. We had a 37ft chase boat that I was regularly involved in solely driving.

I decided to relocate for the summer whilst furthering my experience on the water, leading and managing the windsurfing programme at Camp Shohola. I also taught dinghy sailing, acted as lifeguard and was responsible for driving the tender for the water-skiing programme. Once Camp had ended, I spent around a month travelling the US - Louisianna, Nevada, California, New York and Pennsylvania.

Onboard Ocean spirit I was responsible for a group of trainees during their voyage. My duties would involve instructing and supervising the trainees in all aspects of the voyage such as deck work, watch keeping, seamanship and domestic duties. During each voyage I would lead my watch in various tasks like hoisting a sail with the aim that by the end of the trip they would be able to lead these tasks themselves.
