A mature, drama free professional, possessing over 20 years’ experience as a mechanical technician, working on engines ranging from maritime diesels, 4 stroke and 2 stroke to high-performance racing motorbikes, including regular periodic maintenance and full engine overhauls. Experienced with manufacturers including Volvo, CAT, MTU, Doosan and Cummins. Extensive experience working on both customer-oriented and commercial vessels. Experience servicing and maintaining hotel systems on board as well as utilising scheduled maintenance and planning software. Additionally to my engineering skills I hold medical experience as a Combat Team Medic and Diver Medical Technician. Experience
Sole Engineer
CurrentSole engineer on board vessel equipped with 4 x CAT C18 engines and 4 x Hamilton HM521 jet propulsion. Role requires routine watchkeeping, diagnostic identification, repair and maintenance of engine / propulsion systems, hotel systems and auxiliary equipment including hydraulics. Compile associated administration and logs daily.
Bosun / 2nd Engineer / Support Diver
Managing deck team of 4 in support of a diving expedition charter vessel. Supervise and assist with mooring, anchoring and daily deck related responsibilities. Regularly involved in the repair and maintenance of vessel engines (CAT 3512) and auxiliary systems, launch and recovery of vessel tenders, navigational watch and customer services. Additionally assist with the planning and execution of expedition dives in aid of scientific research, lost wreck discovery and recreational and technical charters. Conduct advanced breathing gas blending requirements including anoxic mixes. Vessel operates predominantly in remote areas of Northern Scotland, Atlantic and North Sea.
Diving Instructor / Motorman / Deckhand
Initially joined the company as a Divemaster, progressing to Open Water Scuba Diving Instructor and Technical Divemaster. Conducted routine deckhand duties including anchoring and mooring. Completed advanced gas blending and diver medical training. Carried out installation, maintenance and servicing of high-pressure compressed gas systems, and mechanical maintenance of outboard motors and company vehicles. Gained experience in fibreglass repairs, surface preparation, and gelcoat work.
