Participated in extensive cruising over 2000 NM, assisting in all aspects of deck operations: anchoring, docking, mooring, and passage prep. Rotated on night watch, assisting with bridge duties during night navigation and maintaining safe lookout protocols. Solely responsible for water toys setup and guest supervision. Carried out daily washdowns, detailing, fender and line handling, tender operations, and general deck upkeep. Adapted quickly to high-paced environment with a lean crew setup, contributing wherever needed. Responsible for safety drill protocols and lifeguard duties. In just a month, I did the entire coast of Croatia; Montenegro; entire west coast of Italy; Monaco; Antibes; and Cannes.
Waiter/Wine Consultant
Working at the best fine dining establishment in South Africa and one of the top 500 restaurants in the world, was more than a privilege, it was experience gained that I will take with me into the yachting industry. Being mentored by the best sommelier and one of the best chefs in the country allowed me to gain vast knowledge and experience in a short amount of time. My role at Dusk included waitering, wine consulting and being a pass manager, meaning I had access to running the entire floor team.
Waiter/Bartender
This job introduced my love for wine through a fantastic manager of mine, Gregory Lorimer. My roles included bartending, waitering and being interim bar manager for a period of 2 months. I really loved this job, being able to interact with people from all over the world and giving them a dining experience they will take home with them being a highlight of their holiday. This job gave me vast understanding of food, wine and creating exotic cocktails.
