Experience
Chief Officer
CurrentTasia is a private yacht cruising the Caribbean and USA belonging to an American owner. My responsibilities included regulatory compliance, crew and vessel management, navigation planning, liaising with guests and organising and executing surveys. After a successful 4 month Caribbean trip with the owner, we embarked on an extensive yard period in Fort Lauderdale. This included the haul out, full refit of the bridge and installation of Navisalor 4000 ECDIS, teak replacement, lighting system upgrade and various other tasks such as the five year and annual surveys. This was concluded with showing at FLIBS. The role was extremely hands-on, training and developing the skills of the crew, whilst maintaining robust bridge management procedures and safety culture.
Chief Officer
BG is a private world travelling yacht belonging to a Canadian owner cruising predominantly in South East Asia. I managed compliance, safety, general running and guest excursions whilst onboard. I assisted in the organisation of surveys, including annual and commercial gap-analysis surveys. Vessel maintenance, from day to day PMS to organising our haul out and yard period, was a key duty. I maintained the paper chart catalogue, as well as the Maris 3000 ECDIS system. The role was extremely guest facing, and included the organisation of a varied and exciting itinerary of activities. Additionally I trained the crew in handling the 32’ Intrepid tender. I assisted with the planning and execution of all passages, including Singapore to Italy via the Suez Canal.
Bosun/Second Officer
Moonstone and Rochade were part of a private world travelling fleet belonging to an American owner cruising with a 50M shadow vessel. I began as Boson on Rochade. After 10 months I was fortunate enough to be promoted to Second Officer on the owner’s new build vessel. I joined Moonstone in the yard during the build. I was responsible for ordering a complete deck inventory for the vessel, including safety equipment, dive gear, toys and everything in between. I developed deck procedures, worked with contractors to design and install deck fittings, organised storage and trained and recruited the deck team. I undertook usual duties such as GMDSS,LSA and FFE checks. I undertook passage planning and led navigational watches. I was responsible for deck maintenance including Alexseal paint repairs. I drove the 36’ twin screw outboard Ocean One, 21’ Pascoe Jet tender and supervised water sports including jet skis, towables and e-foils. As well as multiple Atlantic crossings, we cruised Costa Rica, Mexico, the Caribbean and Mediterranean and transited the Panama Canal.
